Blue Light Weekend is one of East Yorkshire's largest free family events, dedicated to celebrating the people and organisations who protect, rescue and support our communities every day.
The event proudly recognises the UK's emergency services, including the police, fire and rescue services, ambulance service, RNLI, HM Coastguard, military veterans, and the many volunteers and community groups whose commitment and dedication often go unseen.
Blue Light Weekend began with a vision from Steve Medcalf: to put Withernsea on the map while creating an event that would bring people together and showcase the incredible work carried out by those who serve others. Following Steve's passing, the community of Withernsea came together to turn that vision into reality, launching the first Blue Light Weekend in 2022.
Since then, the event has grown year on year, welcoming thousands of visitors from across the region and beyond. Today, Blue Light Weekend not only provides a fantastic free day out for families, but also raises awareness of the essential work undertaken by emergency services, rescue organisations, charities and community groups throughout the UK.
At its heart, Blue Light Weekend remains a celebration of service, community spirit and the people who dedicate their lives to helping others.
